NB8 for Ukraine: Nordic-Baltic – Ukraine Forum, 18 December 2024

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war, the NB8 countries have demonstrated leadership in supporting Ukraine. They not only provide significant military assistance proportional to their GDP but also develop new models of sustainable cooperation in political, military, and security spheres—crucial for our fight for sovereignty and peace.

On 18 December 2024, the Nordic-Baltic – Ukraine Forum took place in Stockholm, Sweden, bringing together representatives from Ukraine and the Nordic and Baltic countries. This event marked a significant moment in strengthening our partnership. Sahaidachnyi Security Center was an official partner of the event, which was organized by the independent foreign policy and international security think tank “Ukrainian Prism” and the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS).

Forum Goals

The purpose of the forum was to establish a regular platform for regional consultations and discussions between experts and government representatives from the Nordic and Baltic countries and Ukraine on key challenges on our shared agenda:

  • Defence cooperation and security guarantees: regional approaches;
  • Political and diplomatic tools for achieving a just and lasting peace;
  • Ukraine’s future in the EU: reforms, reconstruction, and recovery.

Ukrainian Participants

Representatives from the following Ukrainian organizations took part in the forum:

  • Ukrainian Prism
  • Sahaidachnyi Security Center
  • Ukrainian Centre for European Policy

Project Support

The event was held as part of the project “Strengthening the Ukrainian Expert Voice in the European Union and EU Member States and Partners,” supported by a grant from the Open Society Foundations Institute in cooperation with the Open Society Foundations.
