Meeting with Minister Svenja Schulze and Bundestag Members in Kyiv

On December 12, the Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Svenja Schulze, visited Kyiv along with Bundestag members: Gabriela Heinrich (SPD), Ulrich Lechte (FDP), and Robin Wagener (Bündnis 90/Die Grünen). They held a meeting with representatives of the civil society sector. It is extremely important that Western politicians and diplomats are increasingly including such meetings in their visits, emphasizing the significance of cooperation with civil society.

Lesіa Ogryzko, Director of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center, had the opportunity to thank Germany for its support and highlight the need for strengthening it, particularly through the supply of equipment, weapons, and increasing Germany’s leadership role in Europe’s security policy. The main emphasis was placed on cautioning against repeating the mistakes of the 2008 Bucharest Summit and blocking Ukraine’s NATO membership.

During the visit, an open discussion took place about the challenges Ukraine faces amid full-scale war, as well as mutual expectations from international partners.

Summing up the meeting, Lesіa Ogryzko stressed that without proper political and security support from international partners, it is impossible to talk about Ukraine’s reconstruction. She emphasized the importance of not only military aid but also strategic leadership in ensuring security on the continent. Only under these conditions can Ukraine overcome the consequences of aggression and move towards recovery and development.
