Lesia Ogryzko on BBC World News: Ukraine’s Voice Under Attack

On May 27, 2025, Lesia Ogryzko, Director of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center, appeared live on BBC World News from Kyiv during yet another massive aerial attack on Ukraine.

Broadcasting from a shelter, she spoke to the world about Ukrainian resilience, the public mood, and the country’s stance on the actions of Western leaders.

“Putin wants to force people to leave Ukraine, our land, our home. And this is exactly what we will not give him” Lesia emphasized.

During the interview, the Director of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center commented on the current security situation, assessed Donald Trump’s policy on Ukraine, and evaluated the actions of European leaders in terms of imposing painful sanctions on Russia and providing military support to Ukraine.

Lesia stressed the need for more decisive steps from European partners not just the right words. “We need real sanctions against the enemy, deployment of European forces on Ukrainian territory, protection of our skies, and the transfer of frozen Russian assets to Ukraine.”
