Shaping the Future of Ukraine-US Defense Cooperation

A new think tank in the defense sector and a hub for Ukraine–U.S. defense cooperation was recently launched in Kyiv. The Snake Island Institute (SII) presented its strategic vision and priorities during its first public event. The launch brought together senior military officials, government representatives, and civil society leaders working in the defense space.

Lesia Ogryzko, Director of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center, took part in the discussion.

The conversation focused on three core pillars of SII’s work: advocacy, analysis, and defense technologies. The participants emphasized the importance of integrating Ukraine’s battlefield experience into Western strategies, building institutional capacity, and supporting defense innovation.

During a closed-door roundtable with senior experts — including representatives of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence, Armed Forces units, veterans, and tech communities — the group explored future priorities: emerging threats to NATO, the growth of Ukraine’s DefenseTech sector, and new formats of transatlantic advocacy.

The Sahaidachnyi Security Center remains committed to advancing initiatives that strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and accelerate its integration into the global security architecture. We believe that through joint effort, we can build a stronger, safer future.
