In an interview with the German publication Table.Media, Lesіa Ogryzko, Director of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center, shared her thoughts on the current geopolitical situation and Ukraine’s prospects after the war. The main topics of the discussion were: China’s role in the peace process, its impact on the course of the war, and Ukraine’s reconstruction.
“China cannot be considered a neutral mediator,” Lesіa Ogryzko firmly stated, emphasizing that China has been supporting Russia for the past three years, both economically and militarily, which casts doubt on the possibility of this country playing a peacemaking role.
“China could have influenced the developments on the battlefield by pressuring Russia to end the war. Unfortunately, we have not seen this over the past three years,” the expert noted.
In the context of Ukraine’s reconstruction, Lesіa Ogryzko highlighted that the countries that supported Ukraine during the war should be the main participants in the rebuilding process.
“Countries that supported Ukraine during the war must be the primary participants in this process,” the expert stressed.
Lesіa Ogryzko also believes it is necessary to update Europe’s strategy for deterring Russia, in which Ukraine should play a leading role.
