Russia is waging war against Ukraine not only with weapons, but also through systematic disinformation. Kremlin narratives about the “causes of the war,” the “inevitability of Russia’s victory,” or the “West’s responsibility” regularly appear in international media, expert discussions, and political debates. They are often repeated even unintentionally — presented as a supposedly “alternative point of view.”
This is why the Sahaidachnyi Security Center, in partnership with the digital project Ukraine, has created a series of informational cards that debunk key Russian myths about the Russian-Ukrainian war.
“In my international work, I constantly hear foreign journalists, experts, and politicians unconsciously repeating Kremlin narratives based on lies and manipulation. And that’s not even mentioning the broader public. That is how the idea emerged to develop materials that fact-check and debunk these narratives. We chose not to present them as a long analytical document, but in a concise format with clear graphic design — making them easy to share on social media,” says Lesia Ogryzko, Director of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center.
These materials serve as an advocacy tool for international audiences. They briefly, clearly, and factually explain where propaganda ends and reality begins. The micro-publication format, combined with visual design, makes them convenient for rapid sharing on social media and useful for journalists, experts, and anyone working on the topic of Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The goal of the series is to provide a simple and accessible tool to counter Russian disinformation and to spread facts about the war Russia is waging against Ukraine.
For the visual implementation and broad dissemination of the content, the Ukraine community joined the partnership. Its social media audience on Instagram and Facebook exceeds 400,000 people worldwide, primarily from the United States and European countries.
So far, seven myths from the series have already been debunked across the platforms of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center and Ukraine. We invite you to join in spreading the truth.
