On November 14 in Kyiv, an event took place dedicated to Ukraine’s role in NATO’s collective security system.
The panel discussion “Anchored in Security: NATO–Ukraine Defense Cooperation,” organized by the Sahaidachnyi Security Center in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Ukraine Office (Kyiv), brought together representatives of the Government of Ukraine, the NATO Office in Ukraine, embassy officials, leading analysts, MilTech experts, and the broader policy community.
Speakers included:
• Anatolii Kutsevol, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine for European Integration
• Solomiia Bobrovska, Member of Parliament of Ukraine, Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence
• Orest Babij, Defense Advisor to the NATO Representation to Ukraine
Moderator – Lesia Ogryzko, Director of the Sahaidachnyi Security Center.
The event was opened by Thomas Birringer, Head of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Ukraine Office, who emphasized the importance of discussing NATO’s security agenda together with Ukraine.
Key themes of the discussion included:
▪ the current state of NATO–Ukraine relations;
▪ military integration and interoperability vs. political non-integration;
▪ expanding defense cooperation despite political constraints and external pressure;
▪ other defense formats, including the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF).
The central message was clear: Ukraine is not only seeking NATO membership. Ukraine is already strengthening the Alliance.
We extend our sincere gratitude to our partners, speakers, and everyone working to ensure that the word security becomes not a distant aspiration, but a lived reality for Ukrainians.
