War doesn’t end with the last shot. It continues through security challenges, economic pressure, trust among allies, and national unity. Effective recovery depends on coordinated efforts by government, business, military, and civil society.
On July 2, the foresight session “Defense and Recovery Intersection” in Kyiv explored these questions. Organised by Sahaidachnyi Security Center, RISE Ukraine, and BRDO, the event included a presentation by Olena Davlykanova, Senior Associate Analyst at Sahaidachnyi Security Center, on Ukraine’s development scenarios through 2032.
The scenario modeled by the five participant groups assumed a cessation of active hostilities without a peace agreement – that is, without a formal ceasefire. It included temporary occupation of some territories, critical economic and social challenges, and uncertain allied support. The session was facilitated by Oleksii Dorogan, CEO of BRDO.
The event concluded with a panel discussion featuring defence support experts, who shared insights and proposed ways to strengthen Ukraine’s defence capabilities:
– Viktor “Stark” Pavlov, UGV Platoon Commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, Founder of the UGV School;
– Yulia Marushevska, Head of the Reforms Support Office of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine;
– Lesia Orobets, Founder of NGO “Price of Freedom”, International Advocate for Ukraine in the Sky Shield project;
– Lyuba Shypovich, Director of Charitable Foundation “Dignitas”;
Moderator: Lesia Ogryzko, Director of Sahaidachnyi Security Center
Whatever scenario Ukraine faces, readiness is key to protecting its sovereignty and independence.
